Italy has extended the Schengen restrictions with Spain for another 15 days. The reason remains the migration crisis in Ceuta, where tens of thousands of migrants from Morocco have arrived.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The restrictions were imposed for a month on August 1 due to a sharp increase in the number of migrants. Tens of thousands of people have reached the Spanish enclave of Ceuta by sea from Morocco.<\/p>\n

The Italian Interior Ministry explained that the situation does not yet allow for the complete lifting of restrictions. This conclusion was reached after an analysis by the Committee on Immigration and Border Security.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Rome took into account the steps that Spain is already taking together with the European Union to stabilize the situation with migrants.<\/p>\n

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedozi has already informed his Spanish counterpart Fernando Grande-Marlasca of the extension of the restrictions. The ministers discussed the situation by phone.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that about 60 migrants reached the coast of mainland Spain by boat<\/a> and landed on a beach in the province of Murcia in front of tourists.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Spain has tightened security in the North African enclave of Ceuta after a sharp increase in the flow of illegal migrants from Morocco.<\/a> The military and additional Civil Guard forces have been sent to the city, and local authorities have declared a humanitarian and security crisis.<\/p>\n
