In Ukraine, the approach to calculating teachers’ salaries has changed starting from the new academic year. For school teachers, payments, including allowances and supplements, will range from 16.6 to 37 thousand hryvnias before taxes, or approximately 12.8\u201328.5 thousand hryvnias after taxes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Minister of Education and Science Andriy Butenko spoke<\/a> about the new calculation system.<\/p>\n

According to him, the specific amount will depend on the teacher’s position, qualifications and experience, the number of teaching hours, as well as the provided allowances.<\/p>\n

Teachers will receive a bonus for the prestige of their work, ranging from 20% to 30% of their salary. Its amount will be determined by the founder of the educational institution.<\/p>\n

A separate additional payment of 2.6 thousand hryvnias is provided for teachers who work full-time in front-line areas. Local authorities can also establish additional payments to education workers from their budgets.<\/p>\n

For teachers of vocational and specialized pre-higher education, salaries will range from 14.5 to 37 thousand hryvnias before taxes. Teachers who train specialists for the defense industry, energy, machine building, and metalworking industries will receive an additional 10% increase in their salaries.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the highest amounts are provided for employees of higher education institutions – from 17 to 53 thousand hryvnias accrued, or approximately 13\u201341 thousand hryvnias after taxes.<\/p>\n

The main change concerns the calculation system itself. The unified tariff scale has been abolished. Now the official salary will be determined by the coefficient to the base value. In the calculations of the Ministry of Education and Science, the base figure is 28,885 hryvnias.<\/p>\n

“The adopted changes bring us closer to the guarantees laid down in the Law “On Education”, but the work does not end there. We continue to work on the next steps,” Butenko said.<\/p>\n

The new system will operate in schools, vocational, pre-university and higher education institutions, as well as in inclusive resource centers and state institutions. For preschool and after-school education, the transition is possible by decision of local authorities.<\/p>\n
