Ukraine will introduce two levels of air alert – yellow and red, and different sound signals will be used for them. In addition, the authorities plan to allow some businesses and government institutions to operate during the yellow threat level, and in Kyiv they will review the operation of the metro and shorten the curfew.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced<\/a> by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after a report by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky on preparing measures to respond to changes in Russian strike tactics.<\/p>\n

According to Zelensky, the basic yellow alert level will be declared due to the threat of drone strikes. The red level will indicate a missile threat, including the threat of ballistic strikes, as well as massive attacks.<\/p>\n

The General Staff, the Air Force, the government, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Emergency Service will determine threat indicators for the announcement of each level every week.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the authorities plan to introduce different sound signals depending on the level of danger. Zelensky also reported that the repeated triggering of the siren during the end of the day has already been canceled – now it sounds only at the beginning of the air alarm.<\/p>\n

The President also instructed to work out a more precise geographical distribution of alerts so that they are announced precisely in those areas where there is a real threat.<\/p>\n

In addition, the government, local authorities, the military, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Emergency Service should develop criteria under which state institutions, local governments, businesses, and individual social and economic facilities will be able to continue operating during the yellow level.<\/p>\n

The authorities will also review the regulations for the location of shelters in cities and communities. Separately, the government should prepare support for businesses to accelerate the installation of modular shelters and the arrangement of premises in accordance with new safety requirements.<\/p>\n

The changes will also affect Kyiv’s public transport. During the yellow level, the Syretsko-Pechersk metro line should operate fully.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, the city should increase the number of ground public transport to compensate for the stops of the Svyatoshynsko-Brovarska metro line during the alarms. In particular, ground transport should duplicate the route between the “Lisova” and “Dnipro” stations.<\/p>\n

In addition, Kyiv plans to reduce the length of the curfew. Authorities in other cities will also be invited to review its limits, taking into account the security situation and business needs.<\/p>\n

There are currently no plans to change the rules for operating schools and kindergartens during air raids.<\/p>\n

Zelensky also announced that the authorities will check the effectiveness of threat response algorithms every week and adjust them if necessary.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the night of September 1 , Russian troops launched a massive attack on the capital and Kyiv region, using missiles and strike drones<\/a> . The strike resulted in deaths, injuries, and damage to civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n
