The US military struck three Iranian oil tankers on September 5 after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles at US Navy ships. According to CENTCOM, two tankers were disabled and the third, which was empty, was completely destroyed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the US Central Command (CENTCOM).<\/p>\n

The agency said the US aircraft carrier and guided missile destroyer evaded multiple attacks from Iran. No US service members were injured.<\/p>\n

According to the command, the affected tankers were part of a shadowy network that helps finance Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its armed allies in the region.<\/p>\n

“If you fire on 2 of our ships, we will inflict even greater economic losses on you – by destroying 3 of yours,” said CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper.<\/p>\n

“Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost \u2014taking out three of yours.
