Former Prosecutor General of Georgia Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze announced the creation of a “volunteer” international unit “Georgievsky” in Russia, which will fight against Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He explained that the name “Georgievsky” is associated with the Georgievsky Treaty of 1783, according to which the Kartli-Kakheti Kingdom passed under the protectorate of the Russian Empire.<\/p>\n

Romanov-Partskhaladze served as Prosecutor General of Georgia for only about a month \u2014 from November to December 2013.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the US imposed sanctions on him for his role in strengthening Russian influence in Georgia. The UK and Ukraine are also under sanctions.
