Boryspil and Zhuliany airports are available for this purpose.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on September 8 while answering journalists’ questions.

According to the head of state, Ukraine was prepared to accept a plane carrying special representatives of US President Donald Trump, but the American side ultimately chose to travel to Kyiv by rail.

“Ukraine was ready to receive an American plane carrying a delegation of negotiators. Both Boryspil and Zhulyany could have been used,” Zelenskyy noted.

The President explained that Russia attacked the runways of both airports in an attempt to create the impression that Ukrainian aviation infrastructure was unable to ensure safe flights. At the same time, he asserted, the airports continued to operate.

Zelensky emphasized that Russia’s readiness to guarantee an air safety corridor remains essential for organizing such flights.

Ukraine also considered an alternative option: the American delegation would arrive by plane in Gomel, Belarus, and then travel to Kyiv. However, the American security service ultimately opted for rail travel.

US Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner agreed to visit Ukraine again.

Zelensky suggested that the American side leave the plane in Poland or another neighboring country and travel to Kyiv to board the Ukrainian presidential plane.

Thus, the Ukrainian side is ready to ensure the air arrival of the American delegation if the necessary security conditions are agreed upon.

Incidentally, US Special Representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner made their first statements in Kyiv after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They emphasized the need not only to end the war but also to create conditions for long-term peace and the restoration of Ukraine.

As a reminder, on Sunday, September 6, US President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Ukraine . It was subsequently announced that negotiations with US Presidential Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had begun in Kyiv .

On the eve of September 5, US Presidential Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow , where they met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Also follow “Pryamy” on Facebook , X , Telegram and Instagram.

Ukrainian airports are technically ready to accommodate flights carrying American delegations.
