On the night of Thursday, September 10, drones attacked the Russian cities of Makhachkala in Dagestan and Sochi in Krasnodar Krai. In Makhachkala, a commercial seaport may have been hit, and in Sochi, a fire broke out after the attack and people were injured.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The attacks are reported by Russian media, local Telegram channels, regional authorities, and Ukrainian monitoring groups.<\/p>\n

In Makhachkala at night, local residents reported a series of explosions and the work of Russian air defense. Russian publicists stated that drones could have attacked the Makhachkala commercial sea port, and also reported a possible hit.<\/p>\n

According to local authorities, Russian air defense allegedly destroyed all air targets. At the same time, falling debris allegedly set fire to port infrastructure facilities and the Gamzat Tsadasa Avar Music and Drama Theater. The fires were allegedly quickly extinguished.<\/p>\n

The port of Makhachkala is the only ice-free deep-water port in Russia on the Caspian Sea. It operates year-round and handles both bulk and dry cargo. The port has a grain terminal, a transshipment complex, berths for general and bulk cargo, as well as railway and automobile-ferry terminals.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in Sochi, the attack began on the evening of September 9. Around 10 p.m., local residents began reporting powerful explosions in the port area. Monitoring channels reported an attack by naval drones.<\/p>\n

A fire broke out in the area of the promenade after one of the strikes. Local authorities confirmed the attack and reported damage to the beach and nearby infrastructure. The number of injured later rose to eight people.<\/p>\n

Due to the threat of strikes in Sochi, people were evacuated from concert venues near the port. A concert by Russian singer Tatyana Bulanova, which was taking place nearby, also had to be interrupted. Visitors and the artist’s team were taken out of the danger zone.<\/p>\n

Other details regarding the consequences of the attacks in Makhachkala and Sochi are being clarified.<\/p>\n
