The European Solidarity Party opposed the introduction of electronic voting for MPs during airstrikes. The political force stated that such a system could create risks for the security of voting and the legitimacy of decisions made.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to party representatives, the previous evening, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, sent a message to the people’s deputies regarding testing a new voting system in the basement during air raids.<\/p>\n

The political force claims that the next morning they planned to submit a resolution on the possibility of such a vote to the Rules Committee for consideration.<\/p>\n

Supporters of the innovation argue for its necessity by saying that the Verkhovna Rada must work under any conditions.<\/p>\n

At the same time, European Solidarity opposed the practice of so-called “telephone” voting. They cited a number of risks associated with the use of electronic devices outside the protected “Rada” system.<\/p>\n

Among them are the lack of guaranteed identification of the deputy, possible interference with the operation of the telephone or computer, insecurity of data transmission channels, as well as the risk of attacks on software, servers, and databases.<\/p>\n

In addition, the party emphasized the problem of confirming the immutability of the vote. According to them, the system must guarantee the ability to prove that the MP’s vote was properly recorded, saved, and taken into account in the final result.<\/p>\n

Separately, European Solidarity drew attention to possible technical failures, loss of connection, and synchronization problems. In their opinion, such situations may make it impossible to unambiguously establish the fact of voting and the method of counting the vote.<\/p>\n

Another risk in the political force was the possibility of legal appeals of the voting results and the loss of legitimacy of the decisions made. They also stated the need to preliminarily confirm the compliance of the new system with Ukrainian legislation and information and cybersecurity requirements.<\/p>\n

European Solidarity called for a return to the Verkhovna Rada’s practice of working at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. This involves preliminary processing of decisions in order to hold prepared votes in the session hall without lengthy discussions.<\/p>\n
