Russian drones attacked the maritime search and rescue tug “Sapphire” in one of the ports of the Odessa region. According to preliminary information, no people were injured in the attack.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The vessel was appropriately marked in accordance with the requirements of international maritime conventions and performed exclusively civilian search and rescue functions.<\/p>\n

The ministry said the attack was a violation of international humanitarian and maritime law, as civilian vessels, port infrastructure, and rescue services are not military targets.<\/p>\n

The Ukrainian side reported that it is recording all the circumstances and evidence of the attack. They plan to inform the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and international partners about the incident.<\/p>\n

Recall that in the Black Sea, in the exclusive economic zone of Romania, the merchant ship PROGRESS IV, sailing under the flag of the Dominican Republic, caught fire<\/a> . Romanian President Nicos Dan said that the ship was likely hit, but urged not to draw premature conclusions.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the Liberian-flagged tanker Gas Lisbon, which was transporting propane to the Ukrainian port of Reni, was damaged off the coast of Romania.<\/a> After the incident, a fire broke out on the vessel, and the crew was evacuated.<\/p>\n
