Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reacted to the Russian strike on a Ukrzaliznytsia locomotive at Yagodyn station near the Polish border. He called the attack a manifestation of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “deranged logic” and called for Ukraine’s air defenses to be strengthened.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He wrote about this in X.<\/a><\/p>\n

“I don’t know what crazy logic drove Putin to blow up a stationary Ukrainian locomotive on the Polish border this morning,” Johnson said.<\/p>\n

The British politician emphasized that Russian attacks are aimed not only at military facilities, but also at civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n

“What we can say for sure is that this is exactly the type of chaotic and senseless attacks that Ukrainians experience every day – even on civilian railways,” Johnson wrote.<\/p>\n

He also said that Russia is responsible for the deaths of 1,700 Ukrzaliznytsia employees. Johnson called the railway workers and passengers “real heroes” who continue to keep the rail system running despite Russian strikes.<\/p>\n

Amid the attack, the former British prime minister called on Western partners to provide Ukraine with more air defense capabilities.<\/p>\n

“When will we finally provide them with the necessary air defense capabilities?” he asked.<\/p>\n

Johnson also called on Western powers to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. He mentioned more than 140 billion euros that he said were in a Belgian bank and about 10 billion pounds in London.<\/p>\n

“Why don’t we unfreeze Putin’s money and transfer it to Ukraine?” the former prime minister wrote.<\/p>\n

Recall that Russia attacked a railway line near the Ukrainian border with Poland<\/a> , which was carrying a special train with European officials. On board were former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson<\/a> , advisers to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, members of the Bundestag, and European diplomats.<\/p>\n
