Ukrainian pilots are already using these munitions on other aircraft.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/aidefranceukr\/status\/2099358085353537673?s=46\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">was reported by<\/a> French Aid to Ukraine with reference to Le Figaro.<\/p>\n<p> The Hammer integration is to be carried out by Sweden&#8217;s Saab and France&#8217;s Safran. Specialists will need to adapt the ammunition to the Gripen&#8217;s suspension, weapons control system and target data transmission.<\/p>\n<p> The Ukrainian Air Force already uses the AASM Hammer. Previously, the French aerial bombs were adapted for MiG-29 fighters, and later for Su-25 attack aircraft.<\/p>\n<p> The AASM Hammer is a kit that converts conventional aerial bombs into precision-guided bombs. It can be mounted on munitions weighing from 125 to 1000 kg.<\/p>\n<p> The Hammer has several guidance options, including satellite, infrared, and laser. With an additional engine, some versions have a range of more than 70 km.<\/p>\n<p> Ukraine is already receiving AASM Hammer from France, so their adaptation to Gripen will allow the use of weapons already familiar to Ukrainian pilots on Swedish fighters.<\/p>\n<p> It is not yet known when the integration will be completed.<\/p>\n<p> Ukraine expects the first Gripen C\/D in early 2027. Sweden has announced its readiness to transfer 16 such fighters free of charge.<\/p>\n<p> Separately, Ukraine has signed a contract for 16 more newer Gripen Es.
