Russia is increasing its military presence in Belarus and at the same time integrating its defense-industrial complex more and more closely into its own military system. The Kremlin is effectively using Belarusian production facilities to support the Russian army and its protracted war against Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) dated September 14.<\/p>\n

Analysts note that Moscow continues to absorb individual elements of the Belarusian defense industry in order to increase its capabilities for rearming its own forces.<\/p>\n

In particular, the Belarusian opposition organization BELPOL reported that the 558th Aviation Repair Plant in Baranovichi is being prepared to produce components for the Russian Su-25 attack aircraft. According to it, the enterprise has already received new production facilities with an area of over 20,000 square meters.<\/p>\n

The plant currently produces parts for several types of aircraft, including the Su-25, Su-27, Su-30, and MiG-29. Thus, Belarus is increasingly involved in Russian military production.<\/p>\n

ISW recalled that back in February 2023, Alexander Lukashenko declared Belarus’ readiness to localize the production of Su-25s for the Russian army.<\/p>\n

At the same time, this is happening against the backdrop of further military rapprochement between Moscow and Minsk. ISW has previously also reported on Russia’s use of Belarusian territory and infrastructure for military purposes.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Russia has deployed units of the 101st Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, armed with the Oreshnik medium-range missile system, to the territory of Belarus<\/a> . At the same time, there are currently no signs of Belarus preparing to directly enter the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As reported, Belarus continues to assist Russia in carrying out strikes on Ukraine. In particular, its territory was used during recent attacks on Rivne, Volyn, and Lviv regions<\/a> .<\/p>\n

In addition, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, ordered a large-scale inspection of the troops, including the practice of mobilization measures<\/a> . At the same time, he stated that the Belarusian army has no intention of attacking neighboring countries.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine published information about 155 enterprises of the Roselktronics holding company that are involved in the production of components for Russian ballistic and cruise missiles, aircraft, drones, and electronic warfare equipment.<\/a><\/p>\n
