After negotiations, the Russian side has not confirmed its readiness to conduct a humanitarian mission to evacuate civilians from temporarily occupied Oleshki for a long time. The situation has reached the point where some people are trying to get out of the town on their own through minefields.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets.<\/p>\n

According to him, there were agreements with the Russian side on evacuation and appropriate algorithms were developed. They also agreed on a list of people who need to be taken out of Oleshki.<\/p>\n

The International Committee of the Red Cross is ready to join the humanitarian mission. The Ukrainian side has also worked with the Security and Defense Forces to ensure silence during the evacuation.<\/p>\n

However, after the negotiations, the Russian side did not confirm its readiness to conduct a humanitarian mission for a long time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese people need to be saved. Because the city has been turned into a death trap,\u201d Lubinets emphasized.<\/p>\n

The Ombudsman’s Office has received 176 appeals<\/strong> regarding the humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied Kherson region. So far, the data of 358 people<\/strong> who urgently need assistance to safely leave the occupied territories has been verified.<\/p>\n

According to Lubinets, more than six thousand people may remain in Oleshki and the district, including about 200 children<\/strong> . Civilians are under threat from shelling and drone attacks and have problems with access to food, drinking water, and medicine.<\/p>\n

According to the ombudsman, some people are already trying to get out on their own through minefields, risking being blown up by a mine or being attacked by a drone.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the head of the Oleshkiv city military administration, Tetyana Hasanenko, told<\/a> Radio Charter about the critical humanitarian situation in the city. According to the MVA, about two thousand people<\/strong> remain in Oleshkiv itself, and the city is on the verge of famine.<\/p>\n

Recall that at the end of August, residents of Kherson were urged to evacuate to safer regions<\/a> at least for the fall and winter period due to constant Russian attacks and risks to critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n
