The European Parliament has supported the Defense Omnibus, which is intended to accelerate the development of military production in the EU. The new rules will, in particular, allow for the financing and testing of modern defense technologies directly in Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the European Parliament.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This includes drones, sensors, ammunition and other military developments. The EU wants to direct more money to technologies that have already proven their effectiveness during the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The defense omnibus should also remove some of the bureaucracy that is holding up weapons production and the launch of new defense projects in Europe.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In particular, EU countries will be able to issue permits for the expansion of military production more quickly. European companies will also receive simpler conditions for attracting investment in defense projects.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Separately, new rules simplify the procurement of weapons and the movement of military products between European Union countries.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

MEPs explain such changes by the need to quickly increase Europe’s defense capabilities against the backdrop of the threat from Russia.<\/p>\n

The European Parliament believes that Russia will remain a long-term threat to European security even after the war in Ukraine ends. <\/p>\n
