This involves cooperation between European and Ukrainian defense enterprises.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukrinform.ua\/rubric-economy\/4165485-zaliski-z-fondiv-safe-u-evrokomisii-anonsuvali-minimum-10-milardiv-na-proekti-z-ukrainou.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was stated<\/a> by European Commission spokesperson Thomas Rainier during a conversation with journalists in Brussels, Ukrinform reports.<\/p>\n<p> According to him, the new program is planned to be launched using unused SAFE funds.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;We are talking about an amount of at least 10 billion euros,&#8221; said Rainier.<\/p>\n<p> However, this amount is not yet final. The spokesman explained that the amount of funds available will depend on the conclusion of the final loan agreements within the SAFE. Hungary&#8217;s plan also needs to be approved.<\/p>\n<p> According to Rainier, Ukrainian companies will be able to participate in joint projects and receive funding from the program&#8217;s remaining funds.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Ukraine has been a full participant in the program from the very beginning. These are loans that are taken on by member states, but Ukrainian companies are also fully involved and can benefit from this,&#8221; he noted.<\/p>\n<p> On the eve of the meeting, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EU will use the remaining SAFE funds to launch a new program of joint defense projects with Ukraine. Among other things, this concerns the development of a European air and missile defense system based on the Freya system.<\/p>\n<p> The SAFE program provides long-term loans to EU countries for defense investments, joint procurement, and defense industry development. Ukraine can participate in relevant projects under certain conditions.<\/p>\n<p> In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/ukraina-otrymaie-vid-yes-3-3-miliarda-ievro-fon-der-liaien-rozkryla-detali\/\">the European Union will allocate an additional 3.3 billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of missiles and drones<\/a> .
