{"id":1441702,"date":"2026-09-19T10:51:29","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T07:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/us-state-department-approves-possible-sale-of-air-defense-and-ammunition-to-ukraine\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T10:51:29","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T07:51:29","slug":"us-state-department-approves-possible-sale-of-air-defense-and-ammunition-to-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/us-state-department-approves-possible-sale-of-air-defense-and-ammunition-to-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"US State Department approves possible sale of air defense and ammunition to Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The US State Department has approved the possible sale of equipment to Ukraine for the development and modernization of air defense for a total amount of about $2.68 billion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/releases\/bureau-of-political-military-affairs\/2026\/09\/ukraine-air-defense-development-upgrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">is stated<\/a> in a statement from the State Department.<\/p>\n<p> According to the report, the government of Ukraine has submitted a request for the acquisition of the following weapons, which do not fall into the category of major defense equipment:<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li> S-300 Clone missiles;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> GAM-67 missiles;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> air defense missile systems with laser guidance and increased range;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> improvised transport launchers (ITEL 1.5);<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> kits for modifying mobile launch systems;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> RPS 202 radar stations for countering UAVs.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p> If the deal is concluded, Ukraine will finance the purchase from European contributions and American military funding allocated under the previous administration.<\/p>\n<p> At the same time, US funds will be credited as the US contribution to the Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund.<\/p>\n<p> The State Department emphasized that this sale is intended to strengthen Ukraine&#8217;s ability to confront current and future threats.<\/p>\n<p> Contractors will be selected on a competitive basis.<\/p>\n<p> It is worth noting that the published list does not mention Patriot air defense systems or their missiles.<\/p>\n<p> Recall, US President Donald Trump said that Washington is negotiating to grant Ukraine a license to <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/ukraina-mozhe-otrymaty-litsenziiu-na-vyrobnytstvo-mensh-prosunutykh-raket-patriot-tramp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">produce \u201cless advanced\u201d missiles for the Patriot systems<\/a> .
