The Alternative for Germany (AfD) does not expect to be able to form a government in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern despite winning the election. Other parties have ruled out cooperation with the AfD, so a coalition without it is considered the most likely option.<\/strong><\/p>\n

AfD’s candidate for state premier, Leif-Erik Holm, said that the party could govern the state, but currently does not see such a possibility.<\/p>\n

“I believe we could manage. However, right now it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen,” Holm said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the most likely option is a three-party coalition between the Social Democratic Party of Germany, the Left Party, and the Greens.<\/p>\n

“This is certainly not the best direction for our land,” he added.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Holm emphasized that the AfD received a mandate from voters to form a government and expects other parties to agree to negotiations.<\/p>\n

“That is why we expect other parties to be ready to negotiate with us,” he concluded.<\/p>\n

Recall that the vote counting in the state parliament elections in Berlin has been completed. The Left Party took first place, receiving 25.7% of the vote.<\/a><\/p>\n
