The Moscow Oil Refinery completely stopped oil processing after a Ukrainian drone attack on September 20. It may take several weeks for the plant to resume operations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reuters reports<\/a> this, citing three industry sources.<\/p>\n

According to them, after the attack on the Moscow Refinery, fires broke out at two main primary oil processing units. As a result, the plant, owned by Gazprom Neft, stopped refining oil.<\/p>\n

One of the damaged units is AVT-6. It can process 21.4 thousand tons of oil per day and provides about 53% of the plant’s capacity.<\/p>\n

The remaining 47% is accounted for by the EURO+ complex, which can process another 18.8 thousand tons per day. According to Reuters, problems arose at both plants after the attack.<\/p>\n

Sources say that it will not be possible to get them back up and running quickly. Repairs could take several weeks.<\/p>\n

After the attack, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced damage to an industrial facility on the territory of the Moscow Oil Refinery.<\/p>\n

The situation with fuel sales also points to problems with the plant’s operation. Reuters notes that since September 21, the products of the Moscow Refinery have not been put up for auction on the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Russia may extend the ban on diesel fuel exports for another month<\/a> . Moscow is considering such a decision due to problems with oil processing after strikes on Russian refineries. <\/p>\n
