The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police have exposed four people in Kyiv and Zaporizhia suspected of pro-Russian online propaganda. According to the investigation, they justified Russian aggression, spread hostile propaganda, and incited national hatred.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Kyiv, law enforcement officers have exposed the priest of one of the churches of the UOC (MP). According to the case materials, he ran a Telegram channel where he spread Russian propaganda and called for the capture of the capital. The man also left comments in social media chats in support of Russian armed groups and the Kremlin regime.<\/p>\n

Another Kyiv resident was detained for Facebook posts. The investigation believes that he called for physical violence against representatives of one of the national minorities and the burning of their religious buildings. In addition, the blogger threatened servicemen of the Defense Forces and their families. <\/p>\n

In Zaporizhia, the SBU counterintelligence exposed an employee of a local defense enterprise. According to the investigation, in Telegram channels he called on the Russians to launch a “demonstration” missile strike on Kyiv and Lviv. <\/p>\n

Another person involved was a laboratory assistant at a private clinic. According to the SBU, she denied the Russian shelling of Zaporizhia and spread disinformation about the combat work of the Ukrainian military. The woman used several fake accounts in Telegram, as well as in the banned social networks “Odnoklassniki” and “VKontakte”. <\/p>\n

During the searches, phones and computer equipment, which could have stored evidence of their activities, were seized from the suspects. Linguistic examinations conducted at the initiative of the SBU confirmed signs of informational subversive work in favor of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n

The detainees were informed of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. These include justification and denial of Russian aggression, threats of murder based on racial, national, or religious intolerance, and incitement of national hatred.<\/p>\n

Under these articles, the defendants face up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n
