Implementation of reforms agreed with the European Union could unlock \u20ac20 billion in budget support for Ukraine in 2026. Changes in the areas of the rule of law and the fight against corruption remain key.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by Radio Svoboda, citing European Commission spokesman Guillaume Mercier.<\/p>\n

According to him, the EU expects the continuation of the implementation of reforms that were agreed with the Ukrainian authorities and ratified by the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf these reforms are implemented and approved in 2026, they could unlock 20 billion euros in budget support,\u201d Mercier said.<\/p>\n

He noted that the changes cover various areas, but the European Commission names the rule of law and the fight against corruption<\/strong> as key ones.<\/p>\n

Last week, European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos sent letters to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and the Prime Minister of Ukraine, reminding them of the need to continue working on the agreed reforms.<\/p>\n

The day before, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, after meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York, also stated that the amount of budget support would increase as reforms progress in the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n

According to her, about \u20ac37 billion of various types of financing<\/strong> will remain available to Ukraine during 2026.<\/p>\n

European Commission spokeswoman Arianna Podesta noted that the EU is simultaneously working to increase defense support for Ukraine and expects Kyiv to fulfill the conditions necessary for further payments.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the European Commission previously stated that the \u20ac90 billion loan should cover a significant part of Ukraine’s budgetary and defense needs<\/a> . The assistance is designed for 2026\u20132027 and consists of budgetary and defense parts.<\/p>\n

In addition, on September 18 , Ukraine received \u20ac3.3 billion from the EU for the purchase of missiles and drones<\/a> .<\/p>\n
