As part of its reform of the state apparatus, the Cabinet of Ministers intends to eliminate approximately 4,300 vacant positions in central executive bodies. The government also intends to reduce the number of deputy positions in ministries and other government agencies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Cabinet of Ministers’ press service reported this in response to a request from Forbes Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n

During the first stage of the reform, the government will conduct a multifunctional assessment of government agencies. This assessment should reveal which functions are duplicated and how many employees are needed to perform them.<\/p>\n

Following this, the number of deputy ministers in ministries is planned to be reduced by almost 20%, and in central executive bodies by 18%. However, the initial phase will focus on reducing vacant positions, not filled ones.<\/p>\n

Another area of reform will be the reinstatement of competitive selection for civil service positions. To achieve this, the Verkhovna Rada must pass bill No. 13478-1.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet of Ministers noted that the reform should also create more opportunities to attract young people and veterans to the civil service. Specifically, this includes internships, initial job placements, and the adaptation of civil service entry procedures.<\/p>\n
