Ukrainians have been urged not to call 103 for problems that do not require urgent medical attention. Due to the increase in the number of calls, emergency teams should focus on cases where there is a real threat to life. At the same time, if the case is not critical, the patient can be provided with a consultation remotely or advised to contact a family doctor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Now, in addition to their usual calls, medics are regularly working at the sites of Russian attacks and eliminating their consequences. This has increased the burden on the emergency care system.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health explained that after a call to 103, the dispatcher first finds out what condition the person is in. It is he who determines whether a team needs to be sent to the patient. When the situation does not pose an immediate threat to life, the necessary recommendations can be provided by phone or advised to contact a family doctor.<\/p>\n

The list of circumstances that are grounds for the brigade’s departure is determined by the Ministry of Health Order No. 583 of March 26, 2021.<\/p>\n

Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko separately drew attention to the fact that the emergency service is not intended for procedures or medical issues that can be resolved without an urgent trip.<\/p>\n

“Emergency medical care is definitely not the kind of care to give someone a drip or measure their blood pressure. In such cases, a consultation with a family doctor is required, and emergency medical care comes in emergency cases when there is a threat to life,” Lyashko noted.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Ministry of Health reminded drivers of the need to give way to ambulances. This determines how quickly medical personnel can reach a person in need of emergency care.<\/p>\n

Dispatch services continue to receive calls around the clock, including during air alerts.<\/p>\n

The brigades’ departure to the area where the Russian shelling occurred is carried out only after assessing the safety of the route and the ability of medics to reach the location without risk.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Ukraine has approved two new standards for the rational use of antimicrobial drugs.<\/a> They define the rules for prescribing antibiotics, antiviral, antifungal, and antiparasitic agents at the primary and specialized medical care levels.<\/p>\n
