The self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has pardoned 15 convicts. Among them are 13 people who were accused in Belarus of so-called “extremist” crimes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> on Lukashenko’s website.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Most of those pardoned are women. Ten out of 15.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The names of the people who were decided to be pardoned have not yet been announced.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Lukashenko’s website claims that they all requested pardon, admitted their guilt, and “repented.” The convicts also allegedly promised to continue leading a “righteous” lifestyle.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Among those pardoned are political prisoners who were convicted by the Belarusian authorities for so-called “crimes of an extremist nature.”<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with the US President’s special envoy for Belarus John Cole on September 15.<\/a> The parties discussed relations between Minsk and Washington, political prisoners, and the return of frozen Belarusian funds.<\/p>\n
