Several men have been arrested near RAF Fairford in the UK on suspicion of explosives offences. The area has been cordoned off and nearby homes have been evacuated due to an emergency.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A special army ordnance disposal team is examining several vehicles at the scene. Gloucestershire Police have cordoned off the area and are evacuating residents.<\/p>\n

“A number of homes are currently being evacuated in the Welford area after a state of emergency was declared. It follows the arrest of several men on suspicion of breaching the Explosives Act,” Gloucestershire Police said.<\/p>\n

Residents of the nearby village of Welford were evacuated to a local leisure centre. Around 30 pieces of emergency equipment are working in the area, including police cars, ambulances and fire engines.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officials said the situation was contained and under control. A U.S. Air Force spokesman did not disclose details of the measures taken to protect the military.<\/p>\n
