Russian intelligence services have allegedly announced a $20 million reward for information on the whereabouts of the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Magyar” Brovda. The Russians passed the reward information through post-Soviet criminal networks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because of the threat to Brody, the WSJ reporter’s visit to the U.S. Air Force command center required extra security measures. Her phone was put on airplane mode and placed in a special case that blocks Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth, and GPS signals, and the reporter was transported to the meeting location in a car with tinted windows.<\/p>\n

The effectiveness of Ukrainian drone units has made Brovdy and his troops a priority target for the Russian side. Russian courts have also convicted a Ukrainian serviceman in absentia on terrorism charges related to Ukrainian forces’ operations.<\/p>\n

Broddi has led the Unmanned Systems Forces since June 2025. This unit makes up about 2.5% of the Ukrainian army, but over the past year has been responsible for about a third of Russian troop losses.<\/p>\n

The command center uses the Delta system, which combines data from drones, sensors, and other assets into a single network. The system allows for real-time battlefield monitoring, target information, and decision-making without additional authorization from the command.<\/p>\n

According to Brody, data is one of the strategic resources of war. The “Birds of the Magyar” unit records about 10-12 terabytes of information every day, which is used to analyze combat operations, improve tactics, and develop new weapons.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the WSJ reports that since the start of the full-scale war, the Russian military has eliminated 79 fighters from the “Birds of the Magyar”.<\/p>\n
