Ukraine could receive another \u20ac2.9 billion from the EU, but it must implement agreed reforms to receive further financial support. Brussels has called on the government, the Verkhovna Rada, and other state institutions to work on them together.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated<\/a> by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Cos during a meeting of the Ukrainian Donor Platform in Brussels.<\/p>\n

According to her, the European Union links further financial assistance to Ukraine with the implementation of reforms. Kos emphasized that the country’s needs due to the long-running war remain great, and the EU, for its part, continues to provide support.<\/p>\n

Progress in implementing reforms should allow Ukraine to receive another 2.9 billion euros under the Ukraine Plan.<\/p>\n

Kos stressed that reforms are important not only for obtaining money or future accession to the European Union. They should also strengthen state institutions, the judiciary, the economy and the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n

The European Commissioner positively assessed the renewed pace of reforms, but called on the Ukrainian authorities to act together.<\/p>\n

She used the Ukrainian word “toloka” to explain. According to Kos, just as a community unites for a great common cause, the government, the Verkhovna Rada, and other institutions should join forces to implement reforms.<\/p>\n

She also called on Ukraine’s international partners to work together, as the country will continue to need significant external funding.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko also called on the Verkhovna Rada to fulfill Ukraine’s obligations to the EU<\/a> . Among the necessary steps, he named the reboot of the State Bureau of Investigation, the adoption and implementation of the Anti-Corruption Strategy, the resumption of competitions in the prosecutor’s office, strengthening the independence of the NABU and the SAPO, and other changes in the rule of law. European Solidarity stated its readiness to support the vote for these reforms.<\/p>\n
