The International Register of Damage Caused by Russia’s Aggression against Ukraine has opened all 43 categories of claims for compensation for submission.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> in a message from the Registry of Damages for Ukraine (RD4U).<\/p>\n

This concerns the damages, losses, and harm that Russia has caused in Ukraine or against Ukraine since February 24, 2022.<\/p>\n

Thus, the Registry completed the phased launch of the application system, which began on April 2, 2024.<\/p>\n

Applications can now be submitted under all categories provided for by the Register’s mandate. In particular, 21 categories apply to individuals, and another 11 categories are provided for legal entities and the state of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

In total, the Register has already received 195,000 applications. Over 65,000 of them have been entered into the Register, and the rest are still being processed.<\/p>\n

You can file a claim for the death or disappearance of loved ones, bodily injury, torture, sexual violence, and forced displacement. The system also covers loss of housing, employment, or private business, and damage to property and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Separate categories relate to economic losses to businesses, damage to cultural heritage and the environment, humanitarian costs to the state, and other consequences of Russian aggression.<\/p>\n

The Register explained that opening up all categories allows victims, businesses, and the state to document the damage caused by Russia within a single international system. The collected statements should become an evidentiary basis for their further consideration and determination of compensation.<\/p>\n

In the future, they plan to transfer the formed array of applications to the future international Compensation Commission for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The Executive Director of the Register, Markiyan Klyuchkovsky, emphasized that now for each type of damage covered by the system there is a defined path to an international compensation mechanism. The next step should be the creation of a Compensation Commission and a Compensation Fund, which will allow moving from fixing losses to making decisions on payments.<\/p>\n
