The restriction will apply, in particular, to shipments through Estonian ports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/rus.err.ee\/1610153200\/cahkna-jestonija-zapretit-tranzit-rossijskogo-i-belorusskogo-zerna-cherez-jestonskie-porty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was reported by<\/a> ERR, citing Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahknu.<\/p>\n<p> The ban covers grains of commodity group <strong>CN 10.<\/strong> It includes, among others, wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn, rice, sorghum, buckwheat and millet.<\/p>\n<p> The decision is being implemented through amendments to Government Resolution No. 93 of September 29, 2022. The document will enter into force the day after its publication in the state legislative gazette Riigi Teataja.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;Russia is attacking Ukrainian ports and preventing Ukrainian grain from entering the world market. It would be cynical to allow it to export its own grain through our ports at the same time. Estonia will not allow this,&#8221; Tsakhkna said.<\/p>\n<p> According to the minister, back in September, Estonian authorities warned carriers not to plan to transport Russian grain through the country. Before that, the actual transit of such grain through Estonia was almost non-existent, but Russia is looking for alternative export routes.<\/p>\n<p> Estonia is also working with Latvia and Lithuania to ensure that Russian grain is not transported through the ports of the Baltic countries.<\/p>\n<p> In 2024, the European Union imposed tariffs on grain and grain products from Russia and Belarus.
