The majority of Ukrainians surveyed support holding an independent competition for the position of Prosecutor General with the participation of foreign experts. This position was expressed by 69% of respondents.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is evidenced by<\/a> the results of a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.<\/p>\n

At the same time, 25% of respondents<\/strong> do not support this format for selecting the Prosecutor General, and another 6%<\/strong> have not decided on their position.<\/p>\n

The KIIS survey was conducted from September 12 to 21, 2026, using telephone interviews. 1,002 adult citizens of Ukraine<\/strong> who, at the time of the survey, lived in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government, participated in it.<\/p>\n

The sample did not include residents of temporarily occupied territories, as well as citizens who left abroad after February 24, 2022.<\/p>\n

The question of the procedure for appointing the Prosecutor General was raised against the backdrop of a change in the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office. <\/p>\n

\"Competition<\/p>\n

On September 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy removed Ruslan Kravchenko from the position of Prosecutor General.<\/p>\n

We will remind, before that Kravchenko stated that he signed a notice of suspicion to the Director of NABU, Semen Kryvonos<\/a> . Subsequently, the Prosecutor General’s Office denied the information about the delivery of such a notice of suspicion.<\/p>\n

Also on September 14, it became known that Kravchenko had gone abroad<\/a> . He himself explained this by saying that he was on a business trip.<\/p>\n

On September 21, it was reported that the former Prosecutor General did not return to the Prosecutor General’s Office after completing his business trip<\/a> . The official end date was September 18.<\/p>\n
