In Kyiv, patrol officers chased a Ford driver who ignored a stop sign and drove outside the capital. In Sofiivska Borshchahivka, he crashed into an electric pole, after which he attacked police officers with a sapper’s shovel, and one of the inspectors used his service weapon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> the Patrol Police of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

After spotting the Ford, the inspectors demanded that the driver stop, but he ignored them. The police began a pursuit, during which the man drove outside of Kyiv.<\/p>\n

In the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka, the driver lost control and crashed into an electric pole. After that, he got out of the car and attacked the police officers, holding a sapper shovel in his hands.<\/p>\n

Two inspectors were injured in the attack. The man did not respond to demands to stop his illegal actions and warnings about the possible use of firearms.<\/p>\n

To stop the threat to the life and health of police officers, one of the inspectors, in accordance with Article 46 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police”, used a service firearm and shot the attacker in the leg.<\/p>\n

Medics were called to the scene. The injured are receiving necessary medical care, and there is no threat to the lives of the attacker or the police officers.<\/p>\n

Investigators detained the man under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers initiated criminal proceedings under Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – threat or violence against a law enforcement officer.<\/p>\n

Recall that in Lviv on August 21 , a 25-year-old man fatally stabbed a 55-year-old serviceman of the Central Military District and the Joint Service Corps with a knife while checking military registration documents<\/a> . A police officer who was part of the alert group used his service weapon and detained the attacker.<\/p>\n
