{"id":1448246,"date":"2026-10-05T08:57:47","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T05:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/belarus-sent-fertilizers-to-the-us-for-the-first-time-in-four-years\/"},"modified":"2026-10-05T08:57:47","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T05:57:47","slug":"belarus-sent-fertilizers-to-the-us-for-the-first-time-in-four-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/belarus-sent-fertilizers-to-the-us-for-the-first-time-in-four-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus sent fertilizers to the US for the first time in four years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The first shipment of Belarusian potash fertilizer in four years is headed to the U.S. The supply is being resumed amid a gradual improvement in relations between Washington and Minsk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/9cbc0aea-259a-41eb-bbf4-ad8a674ca8b7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">is reported by<\/a> the Financial Times.<\/p>\n<p> According to the Argus pricing agency, on September 15, the Belarusian Potash Company loaded <strong>30,000 tons of granulated potassium chloride<\/strong> at the Russian port of Bronka in St. Petersburg.<\/p>\n<p> The cargo is being transported by a ship owned by a company from the Marshall Islands.<\/p>\n<p> According to the Kpler platform, the ship is scheduled to arrive at the port of New Orleans <strong>on October 14<\/strong> .<\/p>\n<p> This is the first shipment of Belarusian potash to the United States in four years. The shipment was made possible after Washington gradually eased sanctions on the Belarusian potash industry amid agreements to release political prisoners.<\/p>\n<p> The US imposed sanctions on one of Belarus&#8217; key export sectors in 2021 after the Belarusian authorities suppressed mass protests.<\/p>\n<p> In September, US President Donald Trump said that Washington was working on a \u201cmajor deal\u201d to purchase potash fertilizers from Belarus, which he said would cost less than imports from Canada.<\/p>\n<p> Earlier, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/lukashenko-postavyv-pid-sumniv-masshtabnu-uhodu-trampa-shcho-stalosia\">Lukashenko questioned the possibility of large-scale supplies of potassium to the United States<\/a> , stating that there are allegedly no free volumes of production in Belarus for this year.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/bilorus-zvilnyt-25-politviazniv-pislia-perehovoriv-zi-ssha\/\">Belarus also agreed to release 25 political prisoners<\/a> as part of negotiations with Washington.
