The country&#8217;s government has announced its intention to take &#8220;decisive measures&#8221;, including considering the possible recall of the ambassador from Kyiv.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/en.yna.co.kr\/view\/AEN20261006005600315\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was reported by<\/a> Yonhap, citing South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyon.<\/p>\n<p> According to him, he was in constant contact with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga regarding the diplomatic dispute.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe messages I received from Sibiga included an apology. But they do not meet the level we expected, so we intend to take decisive action,\u201d said Cho Hyun.<\/p>\n<p> The minister added that the government is considering various options for further action. Among them is the possible recall of South Korea&#8217;s ambassador to Ukraine, Park Hee-chan. This step was proposed by one of the deputies during parliamentary hearings.<\/p>\n<p> The controversy arose after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly announced in September the transfer of two prisoners of war from North Korea to South Korea.<\/p>\n<p> Seoul claims that there was an agreement between the parties from the beginning not to disclose this information in order to protect the military themselves and their families who remain in North Korea.<\/p>\n<p> After the disclosure, South Korea demanded an official explanation and apology from Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p> In response, Sibiga called the situation a \u201cdiplomatic misunderstanding\u201d and expressed hope for its speedy resolution.<\/p>\n<p> Two North Korean soldiers were captured by Ukrainian forces in January 2025 during fighting in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
