People’s Deputies submitted 5,236 amendments to the draft state budget of Ukraine for 2027. This is one and a half times more than last year, and the largest number in at least 24 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced<\/a> by the Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget, Roksolana Pidlasa.<\/p>\n

According to her, statistics have been kept since the draft budget for 2003. The current 5,236 amendments<\/strong> are a record for this entire period.<\/p>\n

Pidlasa called about two-thirds of the submitted proposals \u201clegislative spam.\u201d According to her, some of these amendments are used by deputies for lengthy speeches in the session hall or as a way to get other desired amendments to be taken into account.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we spend at least 90 seconds on each edit, their consideration will take more than 16 full working days,\u201d the head of the budget committee noted.<\/p>\n

She emphasized that, in parallel with considering the budget, the Verkhovna Rada should also adopt other draft laws, including those necessary for Ukraine to receive international funding.<\/p>\n

The draft state budget for 2027 was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and submitted to parliament on September 15. It provides for about 4.9 trillion hryvnias<\/strong> for the security and defense sector.<\/p>\n

Ukraine’s need for external financial support for 2027 is estimated at $52.6 billion<\/strong> . Earlier, Petro Poroshenko called for a review of part of the expenditures of the 2027 draft budget and for additional funds to be directed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine<\/a> .<\/p>\n

The draft budget also provides for an increase in social standards. In particular, the minimum wage in 2027 is proposed to be set at 9,546 hryvnias<\/a> .<\/p>\n

In addition, the 2027 budget plans to increase funding for programs to support internally displaced persons<\/a> . The final figures of the document may change during its consideration by the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n
