She was unconscious and on a ventilator for several days after the failed execution attempt.

Lawyers said that the woman is now conscious and can speak, but her prognosis remains uncertain.

The attempted execution took place on September 30. Pike was given two doses of pentobarbital, but she did not die. She was then taken to the hospital.

Her lawyers say the procedure left Pike with serious injuries to her hands, including burns and blisters. They are seeking to preserve all materials related to the botched execution to determine what went wrong.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee ordered an independent investigation after the incident and suspended other executions scheduled in the state until the end of the year.

The fate of Pike’s death sentence also remains uncertain. If her condition permits, authorities could theoretically try to carry out the sentence again, but that could be the subject of separate legal disputes.

As a reminder, earlier “Pryamiy” reported that Krista Pike survived two doses of the drug during an attempted execution .
