The Ukrainian military has confirmed damage to Russian oil and gas infrastructure after strikes on the Samara oil and gas processing plant in Samara Oblast and the Astrakhansky gas processing plant in Astrakhan. Tanks, pipelines, and production equipment were damaged at the facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to the General Staff, after the destruction of the Samara LVDS on October 2, damage was confirmed to 11 RVS-20000 tanks, three RVSPK-50000 tanks, sections of pipelines, and an automated oil product loading station.<\/p>\n

The Samara Oil Refinery is a large oil receiving, storage and blending facility. Raw materials are supplied there via main oil pipelines from Tatarstan, Western Siberia and other oil-producing regions of Russia. In particular, the station produces the export grade Urals oil.<\/p>\n

The consequences of the October 4 strike on the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant have also been confirmed. Elements of two gas purification units \u2014 U-172 and U-272 \u2014 as well as the U-1731 secondary distillation unit were damaged there.<\/p>\n

Astrakhan GPP is one of the largest producers of gaseous sulfur in the world. According to the General Staff, the enterprise has a design processing capacity of up to 12 billion cubic meters of shale gas per year and produces up to 3.5 million tons of technical sulfur annually.<\/p>\n

The General Staff noted that both enterprises are used to meet the needs of the Russian army.<\/p>\n

“The destruction of such facilities of the Russian aggressor is Ukraine’s exercise of its inalienable right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and is aimed at reducing the military-economic potential of the Russian Federation,” the General Staff emphasized.<\/p>\n

As reported, on October 6 and the night of October 7, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of Russian military facilities in the occupied territories of Ukraine and in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation<\/a> . Among the targets were an airfield, a radar station, electronic warfare equipment, warehouses, and drone control points.<\/p>\n
