Canadian writer Anne Carson has won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. She was honored for her work that combines classical tradition with new forms of contemporary literature.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Nobel Committee announced<\/a> this on October 8.<\/p>\n

The committee’s wording says that Carson was awarded “for her bold and inventive work, which, in a playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature.”<\/p>\n

Anne Carson is a Canadian poet, essayist, translator, and scholar of antiquity. Her books combine poetry, prose, essays, and reinterpretations of ancient Greek themes.<\/p>\n

Among her most famous works are \u201cAutobiography of Red\u201d, \u201cThe Beauty of the Husband\u201d, \u201cNox\u201d and \u201cRed Doc>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Carson has been mentioned for many years as a possible contender for the Nobel Prize in Literature.<\/p>\n

The monetary part of the award in 2026 is 12 million Swedish kronor<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

Last year, the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Hungarian writer L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Krasznagorkai.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on October 5 , the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann, and Georg Nagel<\/a> . They were honored for the discovery of light-gated ion channels and the development of optogenetics.<\/p>\n

The Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Francis Galzen<\/a> for his contribution to the creation of the IceCube neutrino observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin.<\/p>\n

In addition, on October 7, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was announced to<\/a> Henri Kagan and Kenso Soai. They were honored for their discovery of nonlinear effects and autocatalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis.<\/p>\n
