MAGA supporters in the US are spreading the idea that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is continuing to attack Russian oil refineries to weaken Donald Trump ahead of the midterm elections and help the Democrats. This narrative is being echoed on social media, on television, and in statements by American politicians.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was noted by Ukrainian journalist in Washington, media advisor to Razom for Ukraine Ostap Yarysh.<\/p>\n

In particular, Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy called Zelenskyy ungrateful and claimed his actions were worsening Trump’s position ahead of the congressional elections. Blogger Jack Posobiec called for an end to the transfer of intelligence and funding to Ukraine, and Utah Senator Mike Lee accused the Ukrainian president of aiding Democrats.<\/p>\n

According to Yarysh, such statements may be related to the difficult situation facing Republicans ahead of the elections, particularly due to the sharp rise in fuel prices in the US.<\/p>\n

The journalist notes that potential Russian diesel fuel deliveries are unlikely to significantly impact the situation for American consumers. Experts estimate that even the 300,000 tons of diesel that Russia could supply in October would only last the US about one day.<\/p>\n

Yarysh suggests that the accusations against Ukraine could be an attempt to redirect voter discontent toward an external factor. Furthermore, if the Republicans lose the election, Trump could use this argument to explain the results.<\/p>\n

With three weeks left until election day, the journalist predicts that similar accusations against Ukraine will continue to spread. At the same time, he notes that there are some American conservatives who oppose this approach.<\/p>\n

As an example, Yarysh cited MAGA activist Laura Loomer, who recently visited Ukraine. She stated that purchasing Russian oil replenishes the budget of Iran, a country whose regime, she claimed, chants “Death to America.”<\/p>\n

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Vladimir Putin regarding the supply of Russian diesel fuel<\/a> to the American and global markets. According to him, Russia should immediately supply over 300,000 tons of fuel, followed by several million more tons.<\/p>\n

The day before, US President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner demanded that Ukraine cease attacks on Russian oil refineries<\/a> . According to media reports, they threatened to deprive Kyiv of US intelligence if the attacks continued.<\/p>\n
