European Union foreign ministers have approved the 22nd package of sanctions against Russia, targeting 826 entities and 743 individuals linked to the Russian military-industrial complex. More than half of the new restrictions concern ballistic missile production chains.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by<\/a> the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas.<\/p>\n

She stated that the new package was the largest expansion of the European Union’s sanctions list since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“This is the largest expansion of our sanctions list since the start of the war with Russia. Europe is once again demonstrating unity,” she noted.<\/p>\n

According to Kallas, the new restrictions are aimed at complicating the production of Russian weapons, particularly ballistic missiles. The European Union seeks to limit Russia’s access to necessary components, slow down production processes and increase the cost of weapons manufacturing.<\/p>\n

“We are significantly complicating, slowing down, and making it more expensive for Russia to produce the weapons it uses to kill Ukrainians,” Kallas stressed.<\/p>\n

The sanctions list includes enterprises related to the Russian military-industrial complex, in particular the Zvezdochka ship repair plant, Admiralty Shipyards, manufacturers of drones and missiles, the United Rocket and Space Corporation, the Kirov Artificial Leather Plant, and the Kurgan Garment Factory.<\/p>\n

Some of the restrictions involve expanding existing sanctions. Among the individuals affected by the new measures are managers and employees of the relevant enterprises.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Recall that the Council of the European Union extended individual sanctions against individuals and organizations associated with Russia’s destabilizing and hybrid actions abroad for another year<\/a> .<\/p>\n

By the way, on October 8, the United Kingdom announced a new package of large-scale sanctions against Russia<\/a> , aimed at weakening its oil revenues, military-industrial complex, and schemes to circumvent restrictions.<\/p>\n
