At the same time, Brent crude oil prices remained above $100 per barrel due to the worsening situation in the Middle East and threats to raw material supplies.

This is reported by Reuters .

Brent crude futures fell $1.54, or 1.47%, to $103.18 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude lost $1.54, or 1.68%, to trade at $90.31 a barrel .

The quotes were also influenced by expectations of increased supplies of Russian raw materials. On October 9, Donald Trump said that Russia would supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to the US and other markets in November, another 500,000 tons in November, and an additional 1 million tons later.

On October 11, Trump also announced an agreement between Ukraine and Russia on an energy truce. At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was waiting for the details of the agreement, and Russia did not comment on the American leader’s statement.

Tim Waterer, chief analyst at KCM Trade, said the reports had eased some of the immediate pressure on energy supplies. However, he said questions remained about the reality and duration of the truce, so the potential for further price declines could be limited.

The Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, has called on member countries to assess the need for additional release of diesel fuel stocks. He also stressed the need to accelerate the supply of fuel to the market, especially diesel.

Despite the decline in quotes, Brent oil remains more expensive than $100 per barrel due to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

On October 10, Yemeni Houthis claimed responsibility for an attack on Riyadh International Airport. According to the report, the attack killed 13 people and injured more than 300. On the same day, Trump said that the United States was considering joining the Saudi-led strikes on the Houthis.

In addition, since the beginning of October, there have been reports of new attacks on tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, posing threats to the recovery of oil exports from the Middle East that was observed in September.

Goldman Sachs analysts led by Daan Struyven raised their December Brent oil price forecast to $90 per barrel from the previous $85.

“We maintain our baseline forecast that further adjustment of oil supplies from the Middle East will ultimately lead to lower prices. At the same time, a possible new escalation of the conflict continues to pose significant risks to the price of raw materials,” the analysts noted.

They also predict that in December 2026 the average price of US WTI oil will be $81 per barrel, and in 2027 – $73. According to analysts, US oil is currently unusually cheap compared to Brent due to the high costs of transporting it to Europe.

By the way, Indian refineries are reducing purchases of Russian oil with delivery in November. The main reason is that Urals has risen sharply in price and has almost lost its price advantage over oil from the Middle East.

Recall that in September, India already planned to reduce purchases of Russian oil due to the risk of new US measures . At that time, Russian raw materials still remained cheaper than some alternatives.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Global oil prices fell on October 12 after US President Donald Trump said Ukraine and Russia had agreed to stop attacking each other’s energy infrastructure.
