Representatives of Ukraine, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and NATO participated in the negotiations.

According to the publication, Washington has proposed several options for unfreezing Russian assets. One of them involves transferring funds to a special financial structure that would be under the control of the American administration.

A US official confirmed that the use of frozen Russian assets is being discussed as part of a comprehensive peace agreement. However, there is no final decision yet on the release of the funds and their use.

“Many ideas have been put forward as to how Moscow’s frozen assets could be used after the war,” the publication’s source noted.

Ukrainian delegates confirmed that the issue of Russian assets had already been raised in previous meetings with US representatives.

However, European officials have opposed the proposed mechanism. They agree neither to hand over control of the frozen assets to Washington nor to return any part of them to Moscow.

“They were told it would never happen,” one source told the FT.

Thus, the US proposal has faced objections from European partners. The question of the fate of frozen Russian funds remains part of the discussions on a possible peace settlement.

Also, follow “Pryamyi” on Facebook, X, Telegram, and Instagram.

The United States has proposed transferring some of Europe’s frozen Russian assets to a new financial structure controlled by the Trump administration as part of efforts to revive peace talks with Russia.
