{"id":1453295,"date":"2026-10-15T15:01:38","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T12:01:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/?p=1453295"},"modified":"2026-10-15T15:01:38","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T12:01:38","slug":"britain-to-allocate-17-million-to-restore-chernobyl-shelter-after-russian-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/britain-to-allocate-17-million-to-restore-chernobyl-shelter-after-russian-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"Britain to allocate \u00a317 million to restore Chernobyl shelter after Russian attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The United Kingdom will allocate 17 million pounds to repair the New Safe Confinement of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was damaged by a Russian drone in February 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The British government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/britain-funds-critical-repairs-to-chornobyl-nuclear-power-plant-damaged-by-russian-drone-attack\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a> this on October 15.<\/p>\n<p>The Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom announced the funding for the reconstruction work. The funds will be part of an international assistance program coordinated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in conjunction with Ukraine and donors from the G7 countries.<\/p>\n<p>The money will be used for priority repair work. In particular, they plan to restore the tightness of the protective structure and its ventilation system, as well as extend the life of the confinement.<\/p>\n<p>According to preliminary estimates by the EBRD, the full restoration of the damaged facility will cost approximately 500 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission, Germany, the United States, and Norway have previously expressed their willingness to contribute to the financing of the repairs.
