Estonia will allocate an additional \u20ac10 million to support Ukraine under NATO’s PURL initiative. The country has already contributed \u20ac21 million, bringing the total amount of assistance through this mechanism to \u20ac31 million.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the Estonian government, citing a statement by Prime Minister Kristen Michal during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Michal said that this year Estonia is allocating 0.28% of its GDP to military aid to Ukraine. Last year, the figure was 0.35%. He also called on other NATO countries to increase their contributions to the PURL initiative.<\/p>\n

According to the Prime Minister, Russia is increasingly resorting to hybrid attacks and provocations, trying to distract allies from helping Ukraine. At the same time, he stressed that NATO countries will continue to support Kyiv and jointly respond to Russian threats.<\/p>\n

Michal also noted that Ukrainian combat experience is important for the development of the armies and defense industries of NATO countries.<\/p>\n

In his opinion, Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance would be the most reliable long-term security guarantee for the country and at the same time would strengthen the bloc itself.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister added that NATO continues to strengthen its defenses to show Russia its readiness to defend its allies.<\/p>\n

Recall that earlier Estonia began to transfer the main combat brigade closer to the border with Russia<\/a> , switching to a strategy of “active defense”.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian intelligence also warned about Russian special services preparing sabotage in EU and NATO countries<\/a> .<\/p>\n

On October 7, the NATO Military Committee arrived in Ukraine for the first time in eight years<\/a> , where representatives of all 32 Alliance member states discussed war experiences and preparations for future threats.<\/p>\n
