Representatives of various parliamentary factions and groups that are members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence have called on the government to cancel the October 13 decision on changes to the rules for booking conscripts. In their opinion, the innovations could harm the work of defense and other critically important enterprises.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated in a joint statement of people’s deputies, which was published<\/a> by People’s Deputy Iryna Friz.<\/p>\n

Parliamentarians emphasize that the reservation rules really need to be revised, in particular to ensure that enterprises that are not essential to defense and the economy cannot unjustifiably receive the status of critical.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the deputies criticized the government for preparing the changes without proper consultations with the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n

In their opinion, the new rules could lead to the loss of qualified workers at enterprises of the defense-industrial complex, in the energy sector, housing and communal services, and the communications sector.<\/p>\n

Of particular concern is the situation at enterprises that produce weapons, repair military equipment, and provide Ukrainians with heat and electricity. The deputies emphasize that on the eve of winter, these industries cannot afford to lose specialists who are already in short supply.<\/p>\n

In this regard, parliamentarians made several demands to the government:<\/p>\n
