US President Donald Trump has said he does not want to deal with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he accuses of being unwilling to negotiate with Russia. He also criticized Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries and said the US had temporarily suspended the sale of ammunition to allies to replenish its own stockpiles.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The American<\/a> leader said this in an interview with the Newsmax TV channel.<\/p>\n

According to Trump, Zelensky is allegedly not interested in reaching a peace agreement with Moscow. He suggested that an agreement to end the war could be concluded without the participation of the current president of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“He doesn’t want to negotiate. He says he wants to negotiate, but he doesn’t. No, I’m not a big fan of Zelensky,” the US president said.<\/p>\n

Trump also urged Zelensky to make concessions to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, arguing that Russia has far greater human resources to continue a war of attrition.<\/p>\n

“The truth is that Russia is a huge country, and Russia could lose a million people, and there are many millions more behind them,” the American leader said.<\/p>\n

In addition, Trump called the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ strikes on Russian oil refineries “disgraceful.” In his opinion, such attacks lead to an increase in world oil prices.<\/p>\n

“I want Zelensky to stop, and I want the same from Putin. Now, if you tell me that Zelensky is hitting refineries again, all he’s doing is raising world oil prices. I think that’s just a disgrace,” Trump said.<\/p>\n

He also accused the administration of former US President Barack Obama of allegedly losing Crimea to Ukraine. Trump called the temporarily occupied peninsula the most valuable part of Ukraine and boasted of his own experience in the real estate sector.<\/p>\n

“Crimea is, by far, the most valuable part of Ukraine. The ocean on four sides. Exactly. The most beautiful piece of land. I’m a developer. I know… I definitely know good land,” the US president said.<\/p>\n

Trump blamed the failure of the Russian offensive on Kyiv at the start of a full-scale invasion in 2022 on weather conditions. He suggested that Russian troops could have advanced more quickly toward the capital if their commander had not diverted from the highway into rain-soaked farmland.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the American leader said that he was not sure whether this could be considered Ukraine’s luck.<\/p>\n

US temporarily halts ammunition sales to allies<\/p>\n

In the same interview, Trump said that the United States is currently keeping ammunition for its own needs, and sales to allies will resume after American arsenals are replenished.<\/p>\n

“Lately, we’ve just been keeping the ammunition for ourselves because we need it ourselves. And when we replenish our stockpiles, really replenish them, we’ll start allowing our allies to buy them from us again,” the US president said.<\/p>\n

Thus, Washington temporarily restricted the ability of allies to purchase American ammunition. Trump did not specify when the United States plans to resume sales.<\/p>\n

The US administration has also previously threatened to limit military support for Ukraine over attacks on Russian oil refineries.<\/a> According to the Financial Times, Washington has warned Kyiv that it may end intelligence transfers and the supply of US weapons through the PURL mechanism if Ukraine does not stop such attacks.<\/p>\n
