Sixteen Democratic members of the US House of Representatives have introduced a bill to impose sanctions on Russia’s oil and gas and oil refining industries. The document would restrict American investment in the Russian energy sector, cancel existing general licenses, and ban the issuance of new permits.<\/strong><\/div>\n

The bill aims to impose sanctions on Russia’s oil and gas industry and oil refining industry. In particular, it is intended to block agreements on transactions with Russian diesel fuel, which, according to the publication, are linked to the decision of US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

“16 Democrats from the House of Representatives have introduced bill HR 10828, aimed at imposing sanctions against the Russian oil and gas and oil refining industry,” the journalist wrote.<\/p>\n

The document prohibits the US Treasury Department from investing in Russian energy. It also proposes to revoke general licenses issued by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and prohibit the issuance of such licenses in the future.<\/p>\n

In addition, the bill obliges the Donald Trump administration to impose sanctions against the Russian energy sector. <\/p>\n

It is noted that OFAC previously issued a license at Trump’s direction that allowed transactions with Russian diesel fuel. The new bill provides for restrictions on such transactions within the framework of US sanctions policy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the US and world markets<\/a> . According to him, Russia should immediately supply more than 300 thousand tons of fuel, and later – several million more tons.<\/p>\n

As reported, the United Kingdom, Finland and the European Union have reacted to the agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the American and world markets. Representatives of European states and the European Commission stressed the need to maintain sanctions pressure on Russia and reduce dependence on its energy resources.<\/a><\/p>\n

It should be noted that at the EU summit on October 15, European leaders plan to discuss new sanctions against Russia. First of all, they want to limit Moscow’s income from oil sales<\/a> .
