The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied the Russian command’s claims about the alleged seizure of over 1,800 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory and 92 settlements since September 1. The General Staff emphasized that a number of cities and villages remain under Ukrainian control, and since the beginning of autumn, the Defense Forces have liberated more territories than Russian troops have captured.<\/strong><\/div>\n

According to the spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalev, due to the lack of significant successes on the battlefield, the Russian military leadership creates the illusion of large-scale victories for the political leadership and the domestic audience. An example of this was the report of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, which, according to the Ukrainian side, contains false statements, manipulations and exaggerations.<\/p>\n

The spokesman for the General Staff noted that the Ukrainian side has facts that refute the statements of the Russian command about the situation on the front line.<\/p>\n

“This is not true. In fact, thanks to the active actions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, more territories have been liberated since the beginning of autumn than the enemy managed to capture. Gerasimov’s statements about the capture of Dobropillya are also not true. The city remains under the control of Ukraine,” Kovalev noted.<\/p>\n

He also recalled that on September 1, Vladimir Putin announced the capture of Svyatogorsk. However, according to the spokesman for the General Staff, the city was and remains under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.<\/p>\n
