US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured that no one in the United States had ordered Starlink to slow down. He also commented on why US President Donald Trump refused to impose the “hellish sanctions”<\/a> against Russia stipulated by the Graham-Blumenthal Act.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking to American journalists, Marco Rubio noted that Starlink service in Ukraine has been fully restored. “Starlink is a commercial product, you understand? That’s why it’s regulated and maintained as a commercial product. But Starshield is a defense, military product. And, as I said, the US military uses it… I know Ukraine wants access to Starshield. They don’t have Starshield right now,” Rubio said.<\/p>\n

Rubio’s words contrast with statements by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who stated that Ukrainian drones, including Shahed interceptors that use Starlink in Ukraine, still face speed restrictions<\/a>. Communications are cut off when the drone travels faster than 161 km\/h (102 mph). However, according to the president, there are no such restrictions in the EU.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the night of October 14, Ukrainian military personnel detected a limitation on the Starlink satellite communications system<\/a>, specifically the Starshield system, a project by Elon Musk’s SpaceX based on Starlink technology designed for the US government and military. The limitations resulted in communication interruptions at speeds exceeding 160 km\/h (100 mph), and sometimes at 60-70 km\/h (37-43 mph). This made the effective use of interceptor drones nearly impossible.<\/p>\n

That same day,\u00a0<\/a> the Ministry of Defense reported that Starshield satellite communications had resumed and were gradually improving<\/a>. Meanwhile, the Trump administration denied any involvement in the restrictions on Starlink operations in Ukraine<\/a>. Washington stated that it would contact SpaceX to determine the cause of the problems.<\/p>\n

It later emerged that SpaceX founder Elon Musk proposed restricting Starlink and Starshield access for the Ukrainian military<\/a>, and US President Donald Trump agreed. However, on Wednesday, October 14, Musk denied responsibility for restricting access to Starlink, attributing the blame to the White House.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the White House pointed the finger at SpaceX, while Donald Trump himself insisted he didn’t know who gave the order to restrict the system’s operation. The Pentagon also refused to reveal the source of the order.<\/p>\n

Marco Rubio’s new statements only reinforce the impression that American authorities are trying to shift responsibility onto each other.<\/p>\n

In addition, the US Secretary of State explained why Donald Trump refused to impose “hellish sanctions” against Russia, as provided for by the Gramm-Blumenthal Act.<\/p>\n

According to him, the law’s effects extend beyond Russia, which is why “the president wants to take a 60-day pause to analyze what the introduction of sanctions and tariffs will mean for the global economy and even the US economy.” “There are also countries like India, which voluntarily diversified its energy portfolio but still receives a significant portion of its energy from Russia because it’s difficult to switch overnight. But at the same time, it is an important ally and partner of the United States,” Rubio explained.<\/p>\n

Let us recall that Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that Russia seeks to deploy ballistic missile launchers on the territory of Belarus <\/a>in order to thereby create a threat to the western regions of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
