Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga criticized the idea of a trilateral meeting of the leaders of the United States, China, and Russia on Ukraine on October 19. In his opinion, such a format will not bring peace closer, but will only increase Vladimir Putin’s self-aggrandizement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He wrote about this in X.<\/a><\/p>\n

Sibiga said that inviting the Russian president to such a summit would give him international weight he does not deserve. The minister emphasized that Russia is a global problem, not a world power.<\/p>\n

According to the Foreign Minister, the Russian economy is at least 13 times smaller than the American one and 8 times smaller than the Chinese one. At the same time, due to sanctions, Russian technology, industry, and business are in a state of stagnation.<\/p>\n

“A trilateral meeting of the leaders of the US, China and Russia will not help end the war any faster,” Sibiga noted.<\/p>\n

He also stated that negotiations without Ukraine’s participation will not contribute to ending the war. According to the minister, Russia lost 1.6 million soldiers killed and wounded during the full-scale invasion, but cannot win and does not demonstrate readiness to end the fighting.<\/p>\n

Sibiga stressed that Putin could demonstrate a desire for peace by agreeing to a ceasefire. Instead, according to the minister, Russia is intensifying terror against the civilian population.<\/p>\n

“As long as this terror continues, there should be no place for it at any table,” the Foreign Minister emphasized.<\/p>\n

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed holding a trilateral summit with US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping<\/a> to discuss ending the war against Ukraine. The proposed format does not include the participation of President Volodymyr Zelensky.<\/p>\n
