The athlete has decided to explain in more detail the reasons behind her decision.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/p>\n<div>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/elisvitolina\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;ig_rid=AswGhgjpYBBQeILK6p3E82M\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">She<\/a> wrote about this on her personal Instagram page.<\/p>\n<p> According to Svetolina, the international audience misunderstood her previous statement and perceived the full-scale war as the sole reason for the breakup. The tennis player emphasized that this was only one of many factors.<\/p>\n<p> She said that more than four and a half years of living in a full-scale war had significantly changed her views, forcing her to rethink her own values and plans for the future.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;At some point, I simply realized that I no longer wanted to continue living a life in which I wasn&#8217;t truly happy. And believe me, it wasn&#8217;t an easy decision,&#8221; the athlete wrote.<\/p>\n<p> Svitolina emphasized that she continues to love and respect Monfils as a person. She said it was her desire to be honest with herself and with him that prompted her to make this difficult decision.<\/p>\n<p> The tennis player also addressed the criticism leveled at Monfils following his decision to retire early amid family problems.
