At the same time, the Russians are having problems with diesel fuel reserves, which are needed to operate backup generators in the event of a power outage at the plant.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to the State Emergency Management Agency, all six power units of the ZNPP remain in “cold shutdown” mode and do not generate electricity.

As of October 12, the water level in the cooling pond had dropped to 12.27 meters. At the beginning of the month, it was 12.34 meters, and back in July – 12.86 meters. At the same time, a level of 15 meters is required to fully meet the needs of the station.

There are also problems with fuel for backup generators. If the ZNPP completely loses external power supply, the generators must ensure the operation of necessary systems. During a prolonged power outage, they will consume about 150 tons of diesel per day.

However, the occupiers cannot provide the station with sufficient fuel supplies. Because of this, they are considering reducing the number of generators that are in standby mode and should automatically start when needed. The GUR warns that such a decision will increase the risk of accidents.

In addition, the Russians are looking for ways to secretly bring diesel fuel to the station, including low-quality fuel, without informing the IAEA.

Ukraine proposed to restore power supply to the ZNPP through the 750 kV Dniprovska line using the 330 kV Ferosplavna-1 substation line. However, Russia rejected this option.

Another problem is the shortage of workers. Before the full-scale invasion, about 11,000 people worked at the ZNPP, now their number has decreased to about 5,000. At the same time, only 1,450 workers were directly at the plant.

The occupiers have transferred some of the staff to remote work or sent them on forced leave. They plan to stop paying salaries to some employees. At the same time, the Russians cannot find enough qualified specialists to work with the nuclear power plant equipment, so they want to train new workers from the regions of the Russian Federation.

The situation in Energodar also remains difficult. The city regularly experiences power outages, water, mobile communications, and the internet. Local residents also lack food, drinking water, and fuel.

The GUR claims that the Russians are deliberately limiting communications in Energodar to hide information about the situation in the city and at the nuclear power plant.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram .

The water level in the cooling pond at the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant continues to drop.
